Challenge

Understanding behavior around emerging media consumption and connectivity platforms to help a leading investment company create more relevant and meaningful connections with their clients.

A leading investment company wanted to gain a deeper understanding of the behaviors and underlying motivations driving connection on media platforms today. To do this our job was to learn from super-users of emerging platforms themselves and explore the unique advantages these platforms offer them over traditional platforms. This was all in effort to identify whitespace opportunities for our client to create exciting and meaningful connections with the people they serve.

Approach

Our approach was three-fold. We kicked off our journey by conducting a contextual audit to help understand the broader landscape and culture around emerging platforms for digital connection. Then to gain an insider perspective, we led a series of expert interviews with those in the fields of sociology, gaming, and futurism, digesting as much as we could about how these platforms have evolved and what the future may hold. And lastly, we talked to super-users themselves across 7 emerging connectivity platforms, to get an up close and personal view of the role these connectivity platforms play in their lives and relationships.

Impact

The insights garnered from this research gave our client a clear path forward, identifying which key platforms to use in future engagements, consumer motivations to lean into to leapfrog their competition, and immediate and actionable guardrails for engaging on platforms.
